More Information

‘Three Ships’ is a Gitana 43 cutter rigged sloop designed by Oswald Berkenmeyer and built in Cape Town South Africa in 1988. She was built for ocean cruising and has been maintained to a high standard of safety and efficiency by her current owners. In 2000 she was certified Cat 1 for offshore charter and this standard has been maintained ever since.

The current inventory of equipment includes:

Sails:

  • Fully battened main
  • Yankee headsail on Furlex furler
  • Staysail on Furlex furler
  • Cruising chute with snuffer
  • Storm jib
  • Tri sail on dedicated mast track

Engine:

  • Yanmar 4JH3E new 2001
  • 250ltr diesel fuel tank

Electrical:

  • 12v alternator and 2 x 85 watt solar panels run the main instrumentation
  • 24v Alternator and 2 x 55 watt solar panels run the windlass, radar and fridge

Steering:

  • Wheel manual steering
  • Monitor windvane
  • Raymarine autopilot

Water:

  • 400ltr water tanks
  • Pur 40 watermaker

Saftey:

  • 6 person zodiac ocean liferaft
  • Para anchor
  • Series drogue

Tender:

  • Avon 3m Rover
  • Yamaha 8hp Enduro outboard

Communications and Navigation:

  • Icom DSC VHF
  • Hand held VHF
  • Icom SSB radio
  • Radar
  • Echopilot forward scanning echo sounder
